bridges - fixed element of the landscape or not?

    If many of us would like to have sappers in C3, would you think that bridges should not be indestructible, static element of the map reality, but a tactical issue of the game on the maps with rivers and canyons?

    I prefer all destructible buildings including bridges.
    It would be wondefrul when C3 game will have various bridges build able by players in predicted places.

    It is not hard predict few suitable places where sappers could build various briges e.g.
    - floating pontoon bridges, which were build in areas where were not other bridges or fords
    - wooden trestle bridges, which were comonly met in Central and East Europe
    - stone bridge were much more resistant, but still destructible

    There is a danger that players could too fast destruct all bridges and game could be stalemate.
    GSC map makers could avoid such case by creating few fords or land ways, but locate faraway from map centre.
    Then bridges buid by players could make abridgement to key locations, but players also could march on longer ways.
    They also could be implemented river barges or rafts to transport units across the rivers.

    Bridges should be hard destructible, especially from long range artillery fire. That was fixed, but narrow target, hard to hit and destruct, by artillery bombardment. Only own or captured bridge could be burn or blowed up. However explosive materials laid under bridge needed preparation time and burn time also could last long enough to allow crossing bridge.
    All bridge could be repaired too.

    Build able and destructible bridges add more immersion and allow employ variable strategies in the game.

    I would like to see bridges that could be destroyed, but also there would need to be a way to rebuild them with a sapper too.

    One more vote for destructible and repairable bridges plus shallow crossings. Even if close to the map centre, I believe finding such place would alert the player to take all measures to occupy it and here we go :) I would prefer stone bridges to be super tough to destroy with artillery where light wooden ones to be easier but the usual approach to be mining underneath with sappers/engineers. In this way the attacker would need to move swiftly and take measures using highly mobile troops to prevent the retreating enemy of blowing up the bridge. I think that engineers should be able to construct simple wooden bridges. Someone noted this add-on could stall the game but this isn`t Starcraft, sending 3 pikemen and one musketeer to rush the enemy and take 200 peasants. Sounds stupid. And the beauty of the late warfare is in the massive armies so more or less, I think this could contribute to more developed games should rivers be added as an option.

    Bridges would be awesome to build some time it could be very helpful.

    Bridges, or Pontoons would be a great feature.

    I also think that bridges and pontoons like all structures should be destructible. It was a known tactic to destroy bridges to help direct your enemy to points you wanted him to attack, it will also free up troop that would otherwise be used to guard crossings, which could have been used else where.

    Ability to build bridges of stone or wood would be a great feature. Also the ability to destroy bridges should be featured in the game. Depending on the used material, will determine the hitpoints and sensitivity of a bridge

    The bridges should be structures and not a part of the landscape, as they were in C1

    Should definitely not be part of the landscape. They should be buildings like any other. It would be awesome if we could have small ships going through the bridges.

    That would require high bridges. In some missions in C1 there are canyons. If there could be bridges fit for canyons in C3, there could be small ships and boats passing through under them

    Yes, that's what I meant, like in canyons or rivers along hills.

    Any good army knows a good pontoon train is worth its weight. :)
