Cossacks 3: Rise to Glory - Announcement!

    Dear friends!

    We are glad to announce ‘Cossacks 3: Rise to Glory’, an epic addition to the Cossacks series that will see the light of day on February 15.

    Rise to Glory allows you to take up the mantle of the greatest military leaders of all time and participate in battles that defined the world’s history as we know it. Among other things, it introduces numerous new features to the game: new nations, environments, units, custom campaigns and scenarios and much more!

    Main features:

    • Prussian campaign: Assume the role of Frederick the Great and lead the mighty Prussian armies into the fiercest skirmishes 18th century Europe have ever seen.
    • Swedish campaign: Experience the rise of Sweden to its position of the global power under the leadership of Gustavus Adolphus, a genius military leader who invented the modern way of conducting warfare.
    • New Original Units: 7 new units come into the game, 3 of which are completely new.
    • New environments: Take out your winter coats, as Rise to Glory introduces winter maps to both singleplayer and multiplayer modes.
    • New nations: mighty Bavaria and Saxony – favorites of the old fans – make a comeback to display the military might of German states.
    • Custom missions: three singleplayer scenarios will allow you participate in exciting historical battles that took place all over Europe.

    As a reminder, Bavaria and Saxony will be available to everyone for free in one week after the release of the DLC! Deluxe edition and DLC owners will get an exclusive 7-day access to them and new units, everyone else will get their hands on them on 22th of February.

    The option will be configurable in skirmish mode ?
    Or just for a few cards created for the occasion ?

    I look forward this DLC :)

    OMG OMG OMG. If I could have a chance to bet for next two nations Ill be a millionaire. 100% saw this comming that next nations will be Saxony And Bavaria ^^ . Can't wait to play for my favorite nation : Saxony. And if Sax Musketeers are as they used to be in Cossacks 1 (Sexy Outfit and shooting power) omg. It's gonna be best C3 experience ever. Gonna just hope that : Team indicator while in game , shrinked map and score time will also gonna be added ;)

    I've got Feeling that : Sweden will get 1 New unit , Prussia will get also 1 New Unit. And Ofc Bavaria : Cause they had only 1 Unit. Saxony will remain the same : cause it already looks unique while being rich having 3 unique units ^^ :D

    So you`re busy making more money (this one will be sold like the previous one) instead of fixing the floppy game which is becoming worse with every update?

    I think it's wrong to say that the game is becoming worse, but I am disappointed that more paid DLC is being prioritized over extant balance and gameplay issues. I surely will not buy this DLC until some pretty substantial changes are made to the base game.

    Good to see that GSC is keeping the art and level design team busy, producing paid SP content for those of us that enjoy it in order to pay the bills and the salaries for the rest of the team, particularly the programmers hard at work trying to get the MP stable and the core of the game bugfree.

    You're wrong , many people does not know mechanics of the units. Since Sax is my favorite nation in Cossacks 1 I had lots and lots of experience and tried all of tactics.
    1. Sax Grenadiers Had fastest creation time 100 other grenatiers had 150. So 2 Grenadiers equals to 3 Sax grenadiers. They also had 28 Shooting power and 71 Bayonet power and 90 Health. Other Grenadiers had : 22 shooting power 67 Bayonet and 100 health.
    2. Guard cavalry had defence from multi-barreled cannon but just very slight one. ~35. And since multi cannon was OP in Cossacks 1 this defence didn't helped much.
    But Guard Cavalry was best Melee cavalry unit (excluding Hetmans). Their 42 Defence against Shash and 36 vs Piercing attacks was a lot. +4 Defence from blacksmithing and academy upgrades. They also had 5 Shooting Defence that gives them in Total 9 shooting defence. The thing that most of peoples doesn't know. Cavalry Guards can have unique Formations with (Stand ground) ability. They either Get -30 Defence + 85 slashing power , or - 9 Attack power and +80 All defences. In one multiplayer game I won vs Ukra , in other vs Prussia. (Ofc I wasnt first target so had time to recruit 2 full formations of sax Musketeers and 5 formations of guards. Rest pikemen and priests for meat. In defensive position its a shield cavalry that Will have with special stance : 126 Slash , 120 Piercing , 89 Shooting defence. All serdiuks will shot them for 1 Dmg , Fully Upgraded dragoons 3 dmg and Prussian Musketeers just : 17 Dmg. . Tried myself this stuff and been called a Cheater LOL :D .
    3. Saxony Musketeers had their insane slow building time : But once fully upgraded they can reach 100 Shooting power. And their rate of fire is same as here in Cossacks3 we have on Serdiuks. Since people start playing millions. 20 Pt What I did with Sax. firstly build Market as fast possible. Make good trade and insta build 7 x 18c Barracks.
    So you'll get ~17% more musketeers 18th century. What comes about shooting unit Saxony Musketeers hands down are the best shooting unit. The only place they have disadvantage that 1x1 den musket will shoot first. Its a very micro difference but it feels. Saxony muskets are units that are very precious. So When you defend , or attack someone you must use tactics. Like bringing priest , meat pikes , cavalry to save as much as possible Precious units. While other nations loose their all muskets they are rebuilded fast and you can't say same for sax. If you save these units you benefit up to 8 times compared to other units saves like : Bav, Pru , Den Musketeers. and Sax Musketeers are #1 unit to be positioned up a hill. 3 Muskets = 5 Prussian musketeers. What comes in numbers they are more than fun to play ;)

    4. French Kings Musketeers here has 195 Shooting power , but they use closer range muskets. They are mainly used to counter zerg : Pikes , Officiers. And Obliterate formations. If you're defending take note that their shooting range is not as long as 18c Dragoons. They are best to fend off your shooters from close range attacks : Hussar , Pikemen , Cuirassier raids. And since their shooting power is 195 they 1 shot Officiers. Its probably the handiest unit to cut enemies supply routes. (Killing units going in masses on rally point to specific location).

    5. Sweden 18c Pikemen and 17c Reiter are truly the useless units ATM. Swed Pike has +1 more attack than the rest of pikes and is created a bit slower. The only thing Id see them used more and more often is to Increase their Health from 85 to 100. Then Dragoons wont shoot them 1 hit , and in tough formations they can withstand Prussian Musket fire. Reiters are really useless have no idea how could they be used.

    6. Light Infantry. : Austrian Pandours ATM are #2 shooting units. If we exclude Power Muskets. Their shooting power is 58 , but they hit pretty fast and they do have a decent fire rate. I Had tested on Editor : 1 Dug up Pandour Formation vs 3 Coming fully upgraded (Highlanders , French Chasseur) formations. In all situations Pandours prevailed. So when you might think they are useless , they're not. It's just their creation time. It could be 20% faster.

    7. Unique Dragoons : Netherlands have their dragoons on which maxed they can reach 88 Shooting power. And they have 350 Health. I really like them , but when you go vs Units like : Denmark Musketeers 18c. It is must to have formations. Then you can reach 90 shooting power and 1 shot their Muskets. In no power nation games : Netherlands cause of It's Dragoons would be my choice together with Austria. French Dragoons are really fast to be created and their shooting power is 70. Id Say they are #1 Ranged Cavalry used vs Hussars. Since you can have a lot of them and they react quite fast you are more likely to fend your base from raids than with ordinary dragoons.

    What I can say : I agree that some unique units are useless. But not all of them. And what is really funny that they have unique Skins but nothing that they could be chosen as a must to be recruited. Ofc : apart from Denmark Musketeers ( Thank god's the have ugly skins compared to Cossacks BTW ones) so not that many people recruit them :D We Will see balances , but I think only After all DLC will be released. Only then Devs will think how to put everything to make gaming experience more balanced. ATM what we have working for a new content. ;) And i've got a feeling that this game will be very popular and nicely done in long run. But not what it is ATM ;P

    It is - their new invention with the slowing pace of the game for example. You need one player in MP only to engage it and game becomes utterly unplayable. And having spoken to several others who play it on different computers, it appears the game is not deciding when to trigger this based on your computer configuration, two have "super computers" and it still happens. They see they cannot program well and yet implement complex features which keep on ruining the gaming experience.

    I've said it before they need to get Andrew Shpagin back to program the game, he did all of GSC's previous RTS games, and they were very very stable, shame he left the GSC team all those years ago :-(

    And what about the scenario... when snowflakes fall across our screen to simulate actual winter situations, or is it, eh, texture tile sets that mimic what you see?

    I noted (thanks to your post) that he had done most of the programming in the original game, that explains it all - the rookies tried to resurrect GSC and this is why they waited so long and teased the fans, they knew they can`t do a working game and wanted to gatther the money en masse and will probably cease support for their 45% completed product after the DLCs have been done. Sad but it happens with other software too (not to such brutal extent). That` why software needs regulation, like financial services, when you buy it, you can test it for a limited period but that`s it. Then if its not done well, you`re scammed like Bernard Madoff style. Software producers need to be regulated, fined by the regulator and even sent to prison on serious breaches.

    Potential new 7 units with this Dlc in my opinion:

    Saxony : 18c Muskeeter
    Grenadier
    Cavalry Guards

    Bavaria: 18c Muskeeter
    ?

    Prussia: ?

    Sweden: ?

    My Guess:

    Saxony: Musketeer, Grenadier, Cavalry Guard
    Bavaria: Musketeer, Grenadier
    Prussia: Grenadier
    Sweden: Hakkapel

    It could be. I'm looking forward for Dlc with Algieria or Turkey ( perhaps about Turkish- Venetian Cretan War or fights beetwen Algieria and Spain). They will have posibility to add sand maps with these expansion and Bedouins for Algieria. I hope they someday add to Venice unique units : Stradioti and Morlachs.

    Sweden could also get a carolean musketeer, I hope that like last time that show us the art work for the news units.

    When they announced Rise to Glory someone asked on facebook if Turkey would get an update, here the reply of the developper : "There will be an extensive update for Turkey in the future, we can promise you that"
    I think it will be either the update for May or August they showed on the roadmap (I hope it's for May).
