This will be my English Civil War mod, based on my 19th Century mod (meaning no Barracks or Stable upgrades and limited Academy upgrades) which cuts the amount of micro-management required.
The following are the buildings of the three factions involved in the conflict, Parliament, Royalists and the Scots.
I've still got a lot of work to do so don't expect it next week.

What will the balance of cavalry and infantry and infantry pike and musket shot be?

    Wikipedia tells me that at the Battle of Naseby;

    (1) The Parliamentarians had 6,000 horse, 7,000 foot and 676 dragoons.
    (2) The Royalists had 4,100 horse and 3,300 foot.

No wonder the Royalists lost. God is on the side of the big battalions. ;)

But what this tells for game balancing is that:

    (1) Cavalry and infantry should be present in about equal numbers.
    (2) Cavalry should be about 9/10ths cold steel and about 1/10th dragoons.
    (3) Infantry I am not sure but we are told the Royalists had "three infantry brigades or tertias"

Making the mod produce these ratios would give it a special flavor, I believe. Managing cavalry and tertias tactically would be very important. Probably be important to research and create proper tertia formations.

    UPDATE

"The Scottish government agreed to provide an army of 18,000 foot, 2,000 horse and 1,000 dragoons to fight against the Royalists, giving a strong military advantage to Parliament." -

    http://bcw-project.org/military/english-civil-war/northern-england/the-north-1644

It seems any Scottish Army should show proportions of about 6 infantry to one cavalry. Cavalry in turn should be about 2 cold steel to 1 dragoons. Quite a different composition to the Southerners' armies. Maybe the infantry would be about 7/8 pikes and 1/8 muskets. Just guessing on that one. Pikes AND swordsmen could feature in the Scottish Army. Just guessing again.

    http://bcw-project.org/military/tactics

Spanish Tercios were 1 to 1 ratio of pikes to muskets. English civil ratios I am not sure about.

    https://www.military-history.org/feature/wmd-pike-and-shot-the-spanish-tercio.htm

Just my two bob's worth. Have fun making the mod. :)

I plan to have Scotland as a seperate entity, but as for Infantry to Cavalry balance, when I've decided what army gets what I'll be quite happy to set the production of each to whatever you suggest.;)

Yes, I assumed Scotland would be a separate entity. It will be relatively easy to differentiate Scotland from the other two factions. Scotland will be infantry heavy and likely to have swordsmen as well as pikes and some muskets. How to differentiate the Royalists and Roundheads will be harder. The Royalists will likely have slightly more cavalry numbers than infantry whereas the Roundheads would have about the same proportions. The Royalists will likely have slightly better cavalry too. Roundsheads will likely have slightly better infantry, especially good pikes. These are all just suggestions of course.

You could make the economies different too. Scotland could run on less gold. The Roundheads be heavy on iron and The Royalists heavy on gold (expensive cavalry). All just suggestions of course.

Made in this way cavalry and pike/musket (and tertia or tercio) tactics could be important.

With this being a brother versus brother conflict the uniforms of the two main protagonists, Parliament and Royalists, were very similar, for this reason I have decided to make the Parliament army mainly blue in colour and the Royalist army mainly red.
Using some of Awars fantastic models, especially the Musketeer and Royalist Dragoon which he made for me ( for which I am very grateful ) I have displayed the units below.
I still have a bit to do, then I will list the properties of each unit ( production time, health, damage etc. ) and adjust where members suggest.

Sorry for the delay but I've decided to duplicate each of the protagonists to give more of a choice when selecting an A.I opponent, so depending which is chosen the computer will differ in it's troop production.

Loner, good luck working on the mod, please tell me how musketeers and dragoons will fight in close combat, as well as a royalist officer?

    English Civil War

This is my latest mod featuring the English Civil War, not a very big mod and not a lot different from Vanilla.
It only has three factions, Parliament Royalist and Scotland. I have duplicated each so that whichever is chosen the A.I will react differently and produce a different pre-determined selection of troops.
There are no Barrack or Stable upgrades and limited Academy and Blacksmiths to cut down on micro-management.
Many thanks to Awar for the use of his models, especially the Musketeer and Royalist Dragoon which he created for me.
It won't be to everyones taste but I hope you enjoy it.

Hello, Loner, a very good kind mod! Excuse me, a question for you and Avar, is it possible to equip foot Musketeers with blades (for example, rapiers, sabers or swords) or will it be quite difficult to reproduce technically?

That would be beyond me, it might be possible but if Awar can't do it then nobody can.;)
