I just got an email from [email protected].. Release is currently expected to be Q4 of 2015. Obviously it might change, depending on the development of the game...

“Over the years of its existence, GSC has been engaged in numerous fields, however making good games is what we do best. For this very purpose, we are resuming our activities”, said Evgeniy Grygorovych, head of the development studio. “Over the past year and a half, we have been secretly working on a new project, and now is the time to tell players all over the world about it.

Cossacks 3 is a modern remake of the best 2001 strategy, with armies numbering in thousands of warriors and reconciled game mechanics. It’s a genuine RTS classic, including construction and production of resources. A vast selection of unit types, cold steel and firearms, influence of the landscape, and the realistic physics provide the player with an unlimited number of tactical opportunities. In addition, thanks to modern graphics, the game will be interesting not only for admirers of the series, but for all genre connoisseurs who have never played the legendary Cossacks for some reason!"

    Game features:

    • Breathtaking historical real-time strategy.
    • Actions unfold in Europe in the XVII–XVIII centuries.
    • Five historical singleplayer campaigns.
    • 12 playable nations.
    • Grandiose battles of up to 10,000 units on the map.
    • Realistic physics of bullets and cannonballs.
    • Considerable influence of the landscape on battle tactics.
    • Infinite variations of battles with computer enemies on random maps.
    • Flexible generator of random maps with selection of a preferable landscape.
    • Windows, Mac OS and Linux support.

The release is scheduled for the 4th quarter of 2015.

    Wow that's fast !
Since there is a plan to have 8 more nations later after the release, can I assume there could be other things possibly coming too if we ask for them enough time ? :)

Not quite, in the article it was said "Scheduled for release "this year, when it’s done" Grigorovich says" which could mean Q3 or Q4... :)

Now, we know it should be around Q4, unless delayed until Q1 2016.

Art of war and Back to war were both released in the beginning of December of 2001 and 2002. If there won't be any delays as it has been the case several times with C2 Napoleonic wars, then i expect Cossacks 3 to be released in the beginning of DEC 2015.
Should i be worried, that in this december the release date of Cossacks 3 means more to me than Christmas ? :)

Awesome, cannot wait. Do we know if they will go the way of beta or perhaps a early access model for anyone who pre-orders? or do they use in-house testers only?

So excited for this game i feel like a kid again. Good times.

We thought about early-access model, but decided not to use it. It's not always good. We plan to use close beta test model later and will provide more information, when it will be ready.

    Thank you for your question.

Beta test model could improve some things, but early access model allow avoid early mistakes which developers could make during early development. There are lot of Cossacks fans suggestions to C3 game too. Will GSC team take these suggestions into account before they realise beta version?

10 years ago someone let me play the first Cossacks. I ended buying the Anthology edition some years ago, and just 3 months ago i bought it again online from FX (the spanish distributor). Searching for a patch (the black windows) i ended on the new page. Holy cow, i'm glad i did. I'm really really excited.

In you add a 10% discount for people who buy and pay now, you get the chance to calculate better and may of it is Running well you can spend more money in the development :)

This is great news. I have not played the Cossack series at all, but i will try it now. I am an Age of Empires 3 fan, but since the franchise is over for now I feel like this would be a great replacement. I am going to try the old versions of Cossack now. We'll see.

You really missed out, back for its time Cossacks was amazing, this coming from a Age of Empires fan too. Cossacks is a little dated by todays standards yet ironically has more units and options available than most modern RTS games we see these days. It's still a gem and i actively still play Cossacks Back to War with friends. I would certainly recommend you give them a try. On Steam you can get Cossacks Back to War plus all of European wars and Art of wars campaigns added to back to war for very cheap price. I paid like 4 pounds. :)

Cossacks games are very interesting RTS games. You absolutely should test these games.
They would be great replacemets for AoE. Masher already gave you good recomandation. I could only add that you also try C2 Battle for Europe game. These way you will see how different and amazing are these games.
