Trying to turn the Light Cavalry unit from a hardhorse to a fasthorse but failing miserably.
Even when I move it to the fasthorse group in unitscript it still moves at hardhorse pace, I probably need to change something elsewhere but where.
    Any ideas anyone.:)

Those categories just change how the ai uses them (eg changing winged hussars to hardhorse makes the ai use them like cuirassiers rather than scouts. I may be wrong as I don't have the files in front of me...

Is it possible though to change one to the other.

It's more complicated than I feel it should be, but yes possible. I'll re-visit at the weekend and see if I can do a step-by-step plan if you've had no luck!

In my attempts to achieve this I've managed to erase the unit from everyones stable, although it's still available in the Editor.

I've just realised that the Light Cavalry unit was never available in the stable.

I have a feeling it's because the unit is a child of the dragoons that ot's not working - if you can separate it into a single unit it should be fine

Well, I have managed to get the Light Cavalry unit in to each countries Stable, but I'm struggling to separate it from the rest of the Dragoons in unitscript.
I havn't changed the speed yet just concentrating on getting it to work, at the moment all I'm getting is a sync error.:(

This would be a great addition, as every nation needs a fast 17th horse option.

The easiest way to do it would be to copy the full entry for a dragoon, and the copy in all the 17th.c cav details. If you just take out the light cav details and place them elsewhere at present you'll get a crash, as half the details they need to function are in the parent unit

Thanks for the reply, but if you look at my attachment thats what I did and it still crashes, if you, or anyone, can spot something that looks wrong please can you let me know.;)

You do realize that a units animations are within their .oss files which are basically its ingame model minus the skin?

Unless light cav model has a gallop animation you are going to be boned either way with it because youll get hardhorse movement.

They do have a gallop animation, although it's the cossack one, so they'll be swinging their guns 'round their heads when they move...

Well you can always try to learn blender to mess around with the animations yourself but i dont have that knowledge myself yet.

Me neither, I'm a newbie at this modding lark, to be honest I've surprised my-self at what I've done so far, but animations, that's a whole new ball game.:D
