New option - no second stone upgrade

It would be nice to play without the second stone upgrade. Because you can't just rely on gathering millions of stone and trading for the other resources, you will have a more diverse economy with peasants gathering other things beside stone. Games would be more interesting, with meaningful choices to make regarding the economy. People might actually do stuff like upgrading mines - a game feature that is actually detrimental if used when the 2s upgrade is available; i.e, the player that does that is actually less efficient than the one which simply rally points all peasants on stone. So the game punishes you for using it's features !

In addition, it will be more rewarding to conquer an enemy's base, because you will be able to mine more precious resources (gold, iron, coal). Unused player locations will also become more attractive, adding another strategic dimension.

As it is now, it's sort of like C&C, where you only have one resource; stone is literally more important than gold mines - not to speak of other resources.

    Any thoughts ?

  2. Its a good idea, it will changes the game a lot to the better.

I feel this is more of a universal issue (the focus on stone) and less of a personal flavor thing (for which options are wonderful).
An option would be a cheap quickfix, but it would be better (imo) if the game has a more diverse economy by default (for example with a better market system).

The OC Mod has adopted the market from C2.

It is a flat market, meaning that you get the same rate of return for each trade. so no one will steal your trade, or being the first to market really means nothing as every one gets the same trade.

It is much more fair, and as such more fun, for me at least.

But it does force you to use other forms of economy. Mine upgrades, and mill upgrades now are mandatory.

It is much more balanced and diverse. Like playing a whole new game.

If you take the 'No Market' option it becomes irrelevant.:p

True, but the absence of a market to me is very difficult. You always need the market to handle short falls, such as if your food is raided, or need wood for that next build.

The market is a good tool. But it is abused in the vanilla game.

No market option is too easy to kill all impossible AI. You just raid their base just 1 time. And that's it. They never make any peasants , no army. Just buildings awaiting to be destroyed. So I won a match vs 7 Impossible AI like playing vs noobs. Just raided their peasants and took out 1 by 1 computer players. LOL
