Please show us your new units here. This thread/topic shall be a showcase for our selfmade unit models.

First units I will make are the artillery crew men of course. 17th and 18th century.

I will also add the Potsdamer Giants/Giant Guard to Prussia. They will make an impressive look in the game.
Giant guards had extralong rifles with longer reach and higher precision and a bigger caliber.
Normal grown men were not able to use them.

    2. Musketeer on diet (i scaled him in x direction to make him look less broadly)
    3. Prussian grenadier (Texture not changed yet.)
    4. Grenadier with musketeer hat

    Very well, keep going.
However you can notice that your grenadier models on first screen wore strange uniforms.

I like the Grenadier with Musketeer hat on the right.

So I'm guessing it's not yet possible to implement the Grenadier with Musketeer hat on the right as Austria's 18th century musketeer?

I love the white uniform and I believe it's what the Austrians used anyhow.

Plus for a mid semi late game nation they lack more of a punch like Prussia if you ask me, so some stats compared to Prussia's 18th Century Musketeer on the Austrian side would be welcome I suppose.

Agree with A. Soldier on that one, it'd be lovely to see the Austrians get some love.

As far as Austrian uniforms go, for line infantry white is normal for the greatcoat - lining and cuffs vary by regiment but a lot of the 'German' regiments seemed to use red. Undercoats and trousers on 'German' regts seems to usually be white. Hungarian regiments primarily seem to have used red or blue undercoats / trousers, with cuffs and greatcoat linings varying by regt.

That said, with the variety in regimental colors, it'd make just as much sense to leave cuffs and turnbacks team colored. Still leaves things identifiable by color and chances are its still not far off correct.

The white guys on the left side are the original textures from GSC just for comparsion.

You mean they're our Austrian infantry uniforms on the left :p

XD yeah they function as Austrians as well. But I will change the austrian grenadier hat. Because Austrian Grenadiers used a little different onces. Made of fur.

Ah, alright then. I'm guessing you will also change their Pikeman uniform as well then?

Yes pikemen follows later. Step by step.

Very nice. If you continue in this spirit you will change every 18th Century unit for each nation hah, I certainly wouldn't mind having my officers and drummers in the same uniform.

Just hoping we can implement them soon enough as for now we're still having trouble.

    Oh good jobs.

It would be possible to have the textures?

Yes, but the easiest for now is to replace the textures we currently have, instead of creating new units and applying it to them as it's proving a bit difficult to do right now.

Okay thank you friend. I can take some textures that are in the texture folder of the game? And also on the texture I can define it or put color on duty or not? thank you

Yes you can work on the textures in the game folders. But you need to download the dds file format plugin for your picture manipulation programm. I work with Photoshop (commercial) and Gimp (freeware). Both work.

    https://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia...?ClickID=bg6d1f1zdmggyfegsyfzeyyzdl1dmqkmngyg

    Game textures are stored here:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Cossacks 3\data\materials\units
(C** name of your harddrive can differ)

Over the Texture there is an "alpha mask" named Alpha 1. You can find it in the "Channels" tab. This mask prevents the Texture from being colorized by the Players color in the game. All that is not covered by the alpha mask will be colorized with the player color. This works only correctly when those parts are grey (black/white) otherwise the colors will mix up! and this could lead to unexpected results.
If you mask the comlete picture you can use every color you want. But then the playercolor has no more effect and units have the same color whatever playercolor you use.

I hope this explanation is helpfull for you.

You should make savety copies of the original files. But you can also restore your original files with steam if you want.
Sadly the steam workshop for Cossacks 3 isn't finsihed yet. But lots of modders are already working on new textures, models and gameplay changes.

Thank you, that's what I knew. Only I encounter a small problem. In game texture and all black. I tried all the dxt March . If you know where is my mistake. Thank you

Hm when everything is black it could be an issue with that alpha mask. I can make a little step by step tutorial to show my workflow. Maybe you recognize a difference between my and your files and you can find out what makes it black.
