Should we remove you from the beta test list then?

    I'm just poiting facts.
I was part of some great RTS games betas.
I always gave huge feedback, mostly hunting for bugs. I just like to give something from myself to the game I like and support.
Of course I love Cossacks serie, I support it, BUT it does not change the fact that all hyped is gone already.

    Just look at the news.

22 April - you are ready to accept applications but no-application system.
How long have we waited for application link?
Now it's almost 2 months later and beta hasnt started yet. Why then you made announcement so early?

Well, it's perfectly fine if it's not ready BUT you don't announce something what is not ready.
You can't announce beta 22th april and still don't launch it 2 months later.

    These are basic misteakes.

I'm not raging but giving feedback for future.
As I mentioned, I was part of betas of great RTS games. I went through many paths from announcing game and releasing it.
Now when I compare other games, and C3 marketing, I must admit it's really, really bad. It's killing the whole hype instead of rising it.

Sure, I hope it will be great game but th marketing is killing this game instead of hyping.

Yes I know, I was just kidding with you.

We are all frustrated with the delays and absence of information, and delay after delay of promised videos, releases and beta starts.

But you need to understand, Every group of developers have some special talents. I was once part of a Beta that had fantastic PR, they promised Beta on a certain day, and we had it. they had a very organized Forum, and screen shots were almost daily for 6 months. But the game never made it past beta. it was a very poor design.

I can only hope that the opposite is true with C3. Yes they are terrible at PR. Or at least poor with their timing of their PR. But they always have been.

But for me, this is my only chance to see a revival of my favorite RTS of all time. I am willing to wait as long as it takes to see it through.

Even if the game is crap, I will do my best to support, and participate is any Modding going on. (I truly want to see a extension of C2 much more than a remake of C1) so I am looking even further down the road than C3.

    Good gaming All

All that is true. All we can do now is wait and hope for a good quality game.

A game with the best aspects of OC Mod Balanced and C2 fully integrated would be an excellent game.

One of the great things about OC Mod Balanced was that it was balanced for zero peace time play on a 2 times map. We (me and Clause) played on open land maps as that gave both building space for bases and plenty of open ground to maneuver large armies.

The C2 map style (roads, villages, fords etc.) would need to be replicated on the equivalent of a 2x map at least. On a small map, the C2 map style creates too many choke-points. For a reasonably realistic game design with large unit numbers, an excess of choke-points favours the defence too much. As it is, people will have fences and walls to defend bases. There is a need for plenty of open territory to allow large army clashes and to make marching an army without scouting a risky business.

Large maps favour defence more. Choke-points also favour defence. Large maps with many choke-points will lead to many interminable games and draws. Small maps lead to too much raiding, especially early. The sweet spot is large maps without too many chokes. An additional point is that as map size goes up, plateau size (plateau areas) must go up proportionally. Otherwise you get a big map with long thin plateaus snaking all over the place. Maneuver and attack become all but impossible and people can just camp for ever on such maps. This issue has implications for random map generation algorithms and heuristics.

I have a little question. Is there going to be the same map editor than in C1, or is it going to be substituted by all the new modding tools ?

To "mod" the unit to have a reload animation means that you will have to reanimate every unit you make, render it and then repack the file into a GSC format, this would be a huge task, even if GSC were to release there units as an object so you could use it in 3D software you would have to animate each units reloading animation.
GSC should have just done reloading from the start if that's what people wanted, for me it's not a huge deal, but I did love American Conquest reloading animations, especially the pod mounted muskets :)

Currently after 2000h with company of heroes, reloading in modern games is a must-have for me but...

I agree on that particular one. A problem I had with Back To War was these "snake-mountains", that streched all over the map, everytime you played Random Map with the option Plateaus selected, regardless of map size. In European Wars the mountains were more like round/star shaped, which was a feature that I missed, when I went over to Back To War. I would enjoy round/rectangular/star shaped plateaus, if I choose to play on a plateaus map.

Thanks Atem, can you update all us eager fans on the progress of the game development? What stage are you up to, I'm guessing most of the programming is done and you are just polishing bits and pieces off?

Maybe they will surprise us with new units or features the haven't talked or planned before. In their last video the prussian 17th century musketeer is wearing a helmet. In the old game prussia had the default musketeer unit and no uniqe 17th century musketeer! I know it is vague, but let me dream about it.

And hey there is a new track from the OST out now!
