Hey everyone here is just as much as a consumer as you. I can assure you that GSC doesn't mind people anxiously asking for their game to be delivered soon. If they did they wouldn't be making games for the community. These comments asking for a release that you call "complaining" is a way for many people to express how much they want a product and to remind the developers that there are people waiting that haven't forgotten about the game. For some people If you don't comment about it be it a complain or an opinion people will eventually forget about the product or lose interest because there are many more things going on in life than cossacks.

Just replying to your comment reminds me that their might be a cossacks beta announcement soon.

Every one and he's opinion, you find moaning is good thing and other one finds it not good, where is the problem? But keep in your mind... We all fans to cossacks but complaining and moaning may make the developers get faster and this is not good for the game, we had been waiting for years for this game we don't want it be bad, we want a perfect game, and this is not an easy thing, there is minds thinkin and there is a hard work to complished, I think we can wait for another year and get a perfect game better than just complaining and moaning.

There will be no perfect game. All titles from GSC had many bugs. They also announced that there will be DLCs. So the game comes out incomplete anyway. The players will have to create new features themself, because Cossacks 3 comes with the same flaws of the old game.

So from that point of view, we could expect at least, to be informed about the real progress of the game.
The problem is not that we have to wait, but that we don't know about the real status of the game developement. We don't know if we have to wait for 3 months or another 10 years.

A good Developement progress report could look like the following example:

    • Game Engine: done/ 100%
    • general game mechanics: done/ 80%
    • naval warfare/ships: finished/ 100%
    • nations (Units-, Building list): done/ 70 % rest will be added via DLC later
    • props (trees, mountains etc.): done/ 70%
    • multiplayer: finished/ 100%
    • balancing (multiplayer): not done/ 0%
    • single player campaigns: done/ 15%
    • random map generator: done / 50%
    • editor/tools: under construction/ 80%
    • beta test preparation: crew currently working on/ we expect it in 1-3 months

Like others said there is no perfect game and if our opinions/request/complains make the developers hurry then there is nothing wrong with that. You haven't played the game yet so you don't know if the game is already in a state where is more than perfect. It might seem that is not complete to the developers but comments from the community and feedback ( which includes complains) might actually help the developers realize that there is so much you can perfect and that sometimes is better to put your project out there instead of keep polishing to the point where people lose their excitement about the product. You cannot release a product too early but you can't extend it too much either.

I am assuming you have only read the last few comments in the thread but if you do some research I actually started the thread and since then I have given enough constructive opinions and feedback to justify my latest comments ( such as for example that time the developers said something is coming on Friday and it never came) When many of us are giving feedback then I wouldn't go as far as calling it " moaning " or "whining" like some of you have done which takes out of context the replies and comments that are part of a chain of great feedback and constructive criticism. Just like most of the people in this thread I am just asking for news and updates and if the developers think i am rushing them then that is not bad thing.

Look at what Furious peasant said. That would be a great report.

I disagree with your opinion, for more than 10 years searching for a strategy game that can be compared with cossacks, I never find a game just can be stands infront of cossacks game, all games comes out in those years, not just a single game that may gives you a perfect gaming time like cossacks did, cossacks is a perfect game in any perspective you want, I think they may delay the release date and make us waiting for a while but I'm sure we will have a perfect game that it will give us fun and happy time for years.

And for this reason all of us waiting eagerly for this perfect game to come out.

All i hope that you understand that if you have a different opinion you should probably not say that other people are "moaning" or "whining" because they have a different point of view and they want to express it.

Anyways they said in the facebook page that they will know release date after the betatest, so we might finally gate a "real" release date. I hope.

I think that the complaining were not referred to the game release date, but they were mainly concerning the lack of communication/ wrong informations given by the developers. Of course everyone here (by the fact that he/she's here) he's hoping for the game at its best.
However, there is nothing bad or mean to point out something more than obvious and undeniable as the absence of communication.

Formations were so useless because they were bugged. I still dont get it how they could release AQ.

Hey we know that formations are bugged, they automatically stop. Lets give formation super strong boni and makes them mandatory. Oh yeah that is a good idea.

I have no problem with unbalanced units. I can fix that but I just hope that formations do work now.

Not posted for a while. Time to stick my oar in.

New video and soundtrack. I like the music, I think it is in keeping with the atmosphere of the cossacks series. The jaunty Sweden soundtrack is still my favourite though.

The video is great because it gives us an idea of how the camera can be manipulated and reveals that the game can zoom in very close and the camera angled to have almost a single soldiers view point. The level of detail on the units is ace. We modders will have to up our game when it comes to creating new units.

The scenery is gorgeous. I always thought that there was a compromise between the historic Total War series’ devotion to high end graphics and sprites, at the cost of troop numbers and terrain features and the scale of the Cossacks and American Conquest games which had numbers and spectacle but no 3D.

I think this may be it. Sufficiently detailed and in 3D to create endless cinematic opportunities and gorgeous maps but without losing the scale that made the Cossacks series unique. For the historical battle enthusiast I am thinking we may be close to the perfect blend.

I won’t comment on the Beta within a week quote that is now a few weeks old save to say that it was qualified with the word “about”. After all, in the making of a great game what is a few months between friends.

Yes, it is really important for formations and formations of formations (armies) to march well and align well as commanded. At the same time, I don't want formations to behave unrealistically well. They must be slower to maneuver than skirmish groups and if they get crowded, crushed or try to march or maneuver through each others lines they should get muddled, slow and more difficult to control. As in real life, troops who lose morale or even get over-enthusiastic should get harder to control. Charging cavalry should become more difficult to recall in some circumstances. So don't unleash a major cavalry charge unless you really mean it. You may not be able to recall the charge in some circumstances.
