Great stuff - the water and ship look fantastic! For those saying that the ship is not to scale - look at the buildings! They aren't either - never have been. It's fine really, especially the slow-mo slide show that would be your monitor if the ships was their huge, realistic size. Anyway, I'm sure we can have a 'realistic proportions' mod if people really wanted it (and their systems can handle it!).
The size of the models has nothing to do with the performence of the game. What matters is the count of polygons used for each model and the quantity and resolution of the textures. There won't be any problem to scale the buildings and ships up. For the game Warcraft III there were mods like this and they worked perfectly. If we get a good zoom function we also don't need a "slow-mo slide show". In American Conquest buildings had a much better size, everything looked more realistic.
I totally agree, I rather like proportionnal buildings and ships than too much undersized... But Cossacks 3 is a remake of Cossacks 1, so...
Problem of the mods is that only few people will have this mod installed. Because of that you will not be able to play with other people multiplayer. That's why its so important to have good base. Mods are not medicine for all problems. Mods are good for people who will play only singleplayer.
stop this at once bro if you start counting things you want to change in this game you will give ideas for 10 new games similar to cossacks so dont do it and who said mods are only for singleplayer ?? devs annouced they will help with best mods on their side so we can expect good mods to be livey in multiplayer
I don’t agree that Mods are for single players we had the OC mod which was perfect for multiplayer's !!
Really? I have never seen anyone on multiplayer shell with this mod. True is that you can play multiplayer games on mod only with your friend. In addition you should know that there will be much more mods than one. Imagine situation where 90% multiplayer is normal cossacks 3, 4% one mod, 2% second mod, 2% third mod, 1% fourth mod and next 1% fifth mod. You will not able to catch anyone to play with.
We never had a problem catching players for a game the main problem was that the game room filling up! But you could always have a bit of 1 v 1 action with the player left over. Also you tend to play with like minded people so once you have a Mod that you and your mates like there isn’t a problem.
the old picture for who want to look at the upgrade between both game http://www.cossacks3.com/forum/inde...ns-et-autres-nouvelles.3898/page-8#post-35019
The mod that the Hawks group played with was designed mainly for multiplayer. I have found that the Steam Workshop makes playing with or without mods really easy. For the Total War series I have had no trouble making use of mods using this facility so hopefully new technology will make mods for Cossacks3 easy to use and allow more people to try them and find others who are using the same mod. Just on the point about scale I have reached the conclusion that, as always, it is a matter of balance. I am not convinced that a replication of reality will make for an enjoyable gaming experience. I think it is about capturing the spirit rather than the letter. Hopefully the greatest thing about Cossacks3 will be that it allows us to experiment and mod whatever game we want to create.
Just my 2 cents worth on this. I do not think it would be possible to represent everything as 1 to 1. Ships alone would take up too much screen. Cities would dominate the space on the map. Cossacks is a game about battles, and not city building. So I think resources should be used in making battle as realistic as possible, not the buildings. Anyway, just my thoughts.
Yes,I post this reply at 11:50pm, but they betrayed me! Today is 1/8/2016 and it suppose to be opened, why still not I don't know
You will be able to preorder Cossacks 3 on Steam one month before the release (I think approximately August 22 sooner or later) and get the game 20 September 2016 with some interesting bonus of the preorder.
will you sell cossacks 3 only by steam platform???? i say this because i am staying there since some days, and i don't like it. In fact, when i stay there. my hate on this platform increase more and more..... I am an old cossacks player. I have all Cossacks in cd with its original boxes, and i want to know if you will put on market Cossacks 3 by same way than others Cossacks. Greetings and good game.
From the FAQ (on steam since it's the more recent version) : Where I can buy Cossacks 3? Cossacks 3 will be available on Steam mainly. It is possible that other digital distribution resources will be added to the list. Also retail version will be available.
There's been quite a bit of debate about mods. Some look forward to modding, others say it will split the community somewhat into different versions of the game. If we look at the experience of the Supreme Commander, we can note that extensive modding strengthened the community around that game. Eventually, the publisher of Supreme Commander stopped supporting the game for their ongoing commercial reasons, not because of modding. I am not saying this will happen with Cossacks 3. However, when the publisher stopped supporting Supreme Commander , the community of modders stepped in, set up a server and continued to support and mod the game. One of their innovations was to support the best mods. These got support as playable versions within the lobby. This whole enterprise (non-profit) kept the game going for many more years and still does. This model might serve for the publisher of Cossacks 3 in the long term. I mean not to stop supporting C3 entirely but to eventually hand over elements of support to a modding community who will keep the game growing and evolving. Or an alternative would be to use the modding community eventually to feed the best updates and upgrades developed by modders into the official game. This last idea is already contained in the game makers' ideas and announcements. Either of these models or a hybrid of them could provide long term support and development for C3. In my opinion, the game will definitely have a longer internet playing life if it utilises the skills of the modding community properly.
