After the last patches, the Chasseur (late XVIIIc) can run quite as fast as the heavy cavalry / dragoons ...

Hussars have the the bad habit of attacking line infantry formations, being massacred unnecessarily. The Hussars use should be different ;)

    Hi can someone help me?

I downloaded state_vs_country_plus_15.187 and copied it into the mods folder. But when I try to start the game (even vanilla C3) it says something about error compiling scripts. What must I do?

@Hansol333 this is quite an old version, current one is state_vs_country_plus_16.61
Here's the download link for a manual installation https://yadi.sk/d/iAn908uTnUl3hA

If you have steam you can simply subsribe to the mod State vs Country plus, @Loner keep the version updated at all time :)

This thread is absolutely not up to date with all the progression that was made for this mod. It doesn't even have the submod Rise of America or the rescale one.

I will put my questions about State vs. Country Plus in this thread and in the Russian thread.

    (1) Are there any players who meet regularly for team games? What days and times in the week do they meet? (Give Greenwich Mean Time, GMT, and I can convert that to my time).
    (2) What is the difference between 18th C fusiliers and 18C fusilers new? When do they each produce?
    (3) Are the nations balanced? I played Prussia against Daddio who had Denmark. My Prussian late 18th C / Golden Age infantry seemed notably stronger than his infantry and possibly won me the game, though I did have more cavalry.

We played a long peace time game (45 minutes) to allow us to learn the economy and upgrades. We used a little add-on mod I made to create a "Flat Market". The flat market gives poor prices for all trades and the market prices do not change after trades. The reason we like a flat market is that we prefer direct collection of resources to be the main income. Trading is mainly for emergencies or to use up excessive surpluses. We also prefer that repeated trading and manipulating market prices not be part of the game. That's just a personal preference. Playing like this we lifted all our gold mines (4 each) to 95 peasants each well before end of peace time. We played on a 4X open plains land map.

The game went well. Morale worked well except maybe my Prussian 18th C / Golden Age infantry were a little bit too good. Is their morale too high? Daddio and I will swap nations next game to test that. I would like an option for non-AI play where pursuing cavalry can kill retreating troops. This will turn the retreat into a rout unless the retreating player can organize reinforcements or reserves to cover the retreat. I think this would promote more interesting play.

I really think artillery needs formations. It is very micro intensive to have to make every cannon into its own formation essentially . Why can't we have artillery formations of up to 8 cannon (still with four crew around each cannon) ? Even artillery formations of 4 cannon would help a lot with artillery management.

    Looking for Games.

    I am looking for people to play against in State vs Country Plus. I would be happy to play 1v1 or 2v2 games. Maybe up to 4v4 games if the map is big enough. I will play;

    (1) Peace-times of 10 minutes to 60 minutes (even zero peace-time on bigger maps).
    (2) 2x maps and 4 x maps.
    (3) Open terrain but other types of terrain if you want. (But no winter maps please my eyesight suffers from snow blindness on the screen!) o_O
    (4) I prefer no water, no navy, but I will try to learn naval play if people want that.
    (5) I prefer thousands starts but I will play anything except millions.
    (6) I prefer a flat market (with my flat market mod added in and ticked below State vs Country Plus) but I will play normal SVC+ market too (that is to say without my little market mod added on).
    (7) I prefer no diplomatic units but I will play diplomatic centers if required.
    (8) If captures are permitted I prefer no use of the captured nation unless people really want that. I guess that has to be a gentleman's agreement.
    (9) Also I prefer morale on (retreat enabled) and 3 line or 4 line fire with 2 times fire delay but I will play whatever people want in this regard.

So, starting conditions by negotiation or vote really. :)

I can play any time of my day or night. Give me your playing days and times plus country so I can convert it to my time zone. I would love to get some regular games with people. Don't forget, I will play anytime of the day or night my time. You can play at your favorite time of day. I am so flexible and reasonable!

Tips for Playing State vs Country Plus.

These are from a person who has only played it a few times so this will not be perfect or error free.

    1. The development path is long as there are more eras (as parts of the 17th and 18th C) and there are more upgrades. Therefore, the development path is expensive so build a good economy.

    2. Probably use a thousands start as you will need it. The “thousands” start in SVC+ gives 10,000 of some resources. You will need them. Try a long peace time first to learn the development path and have time to make formations.

    3. At the start build 2 town centres and then use the “speed up peasant production” button which costs 5,000 gold of your starting 10,000 gold. It’s worth it to immediately boost peasant numbers in a peace time game.

    4. The building build path is the same pretty much as vanilla. Each “era” upgrade within each century needs specific academy upgrades. It will tell you which ones you need to run.

    5. Just as in vanilla use your market, your resource gathering and mine upgrades to boost production as much as possible.

    6. In the first early 17th C era, the units do not have upgrades. After that era, they do. In say a 45 PT, I would not even make the first early 17th troops.

    7. I try to get my 4 gold mines to 95 each before the end of a 45 min PT.

    8. I try to be in the Golden Age of 18th C before the end of a 45 min PT. Make sure you pick a Golden Age capable European side like France, England, Prussia or Austria. There are others but not all European sides are Golden Age capable. Golden Age troops are the strongest.

    9. Making formations is more complex. The best formations are fully upgraded units (obviously) with an Officer, Drummer and Flagman. They have more morale I believe. If you run out of Flagmen (limited numbers are allowed) then just use Officers and Drummers.

    10. Cavalry after the earliest era need an Officer and Sergeant (I think its called) to make cavalry formations.

    11. Use the morale option. It leads to great play. You will need the field hospital tent or command tent (whatever it is called). You will see it in the build queue. It can make on special flagman who stays in its area and heals troops who have retreated after morale loss. Put 5 to 10 Bishops around this tent to help the healing process. Then use these troops again in formations.

    12. When a formation loses morale progressively you start to lose command functions progressively (the various command buttons) for the formation. Eventually the men will break and flee to the hospital/command tent. You cannot control them when they are in this state.

    13. Cavalry morale is a bit touchy. Don’t charge cavalry frontally into good infantry formations in lines or squares (especially not squares). Wait until the infantry look depleted and wavering or better still attack them from a flank when they are fixed frontally in a fire fight by your own infantry.

    14. Cannon are very hard to use. You cannot move them unless you put four artillerymen with every one. You have to make every cannon with its own four artillery men into its own formation. Then you can hot key a bunch for a battery. Place your artillery behind or between covering formations. I think they can shoot over their own men. If the artillery men get shot the cannons auto-delete. So don’t put cannon in front of your infantry front line.

    15. Late 18th C grenadiers (Golden Age) do NOT throw grenades, only ones from the earlier eras do. The earlier ones need to have their bayonet/grenade only button set to throw grenades.

Can I get some help on modifying the stats? How do I increase the peasant limit per town centre from 75 to more? I did find a number nnum=75 but its not it.

Thanks, also managed to install it. After the update appears mod files are downloaded to a different folder in Steam an the game doesn`t see them. Moving them manually solved (FYI). The mod is what gave Cossacks 3 life but some things need to be cleared in my opinion:

    - 75 peasants per centre limits initial start to one option, if you don`t do it, you`re done. Very limiting in my opinion. I did try with 100 and I think it is better.
    - archers are still nerfed - armour units need more defense against archers
    - no upgrades in early 17c for most nations but Russia and Turkey leaves the second massively overpowered in no PT games. And still the name Turkey, it was Ottoman Empire back then known for the numbers of soldiers it can summon, not for their quality as it comes up now. As evident from too many battles where Ottoman armies outnumbered the enemies in more than 1:5 and were crushed.

    Fulcrum,

Do you play multiplayer games in State vs Country Plus? Does anyone? When do they meet online? I keep asking these questions but I never get an answer.

I don`t know, if I have to be honest - I don`t play a lot and because of time constraints, can barely afford to commit to an online game.

Sigh, it's a shame. No online players that I can find. State vs Country Plus is such a good mod with so much promise. It needs online players. Only consistent online play will assist the necessary balance refinements and see more innovations to make small and large army control easier, so that people can concentrate on strategy and tactics.

Agree and the mod is very good but problem is, its based on a piece of turd. Its like trying to make a Lada compete with a mid-range German saloon. Whatever you make to it - its still a Lada underneath. For example, I run it on core i5 with 8GB of ram and Geforce 920 with 2GB and a SSD and the game just becomes very slow when development advances. Not to mention its mediocre start when the Ukrainian guys literally used the buyers to test their piece of turd. Sorry, but that`s the truth and why you find few players.

    This post is from Youmanity on Steam;
Awesome mod, yet I have found a rather large bug: If you do Random or Online map and you select Continents or islands than several buildings are missing (housing and such) and the canon-make-building wont be showing any canons to build. I have done a clean install and tested a lot of setups: the mod works fine on a "land"map. Its a shame the bug is in the sea-maps as the ships are super nice!

I am looking at State vs Country again, out of interest since nobody else is building decent RTS or mods anymore. I've forgotten a lot and I think SVC has changed a lot since I last looked at it so I have a few questions.

    1. Is the Advisor supposed to work in SVC? It doesn't seem to work. Maybe it's not meant to.
    2. There used to be an option to automatically progress through eras. Has this option been removed?
    3. There used to be an option for longer musket ranges I think or am I imagining things?
