Will we be able to play with Windows 10 (as far as any developers know)?
Probably yes. But unfortunately, the game uses OpenGL...wish is a shame, if youd read a little about all what can the new DirectX12 bring, specialy to the next wave of strategie games. They promise with the new technologies hundred of thousands of units and particles all in real time, and of course good performance!
I have not heard myself.
I have just upgraded to windows 7, with my new Gaming PC build this last week.
I plan to hold off on the upgrade to Win10 until I see that it is supported.
But Microsoft states that anything that will run on Win 8 will run on Win 10.
I think that they are very similar its just that windows 8 is just so hard to get around in.
I think that it will be suport of windows 10. Premiere of the new windows will be 29 july, and developers will have a lot of time for little corrects, but I think that windows 8 and windows 10 are so simillar and will be compatibile.
Where can you take this strategie game with hundred of thousands of units and particles all in real time?
I think you had to wait a few years for it
I dont know about that, but you can go to Youtube and search for "Directx12 Star Swarm Benchmark" and see for yourself what the future holds.
Considering windows 10 is a free upgrade within the first year of release for all windows 7 and 8.1 users. Cossacks 3 absolutely must support windows 10. It would be silly of them not to as they could miss out on potentially many customers. My self included as i am upgrading to windows 10 as soon as it's available. Which i believe is tomorrow.
For me the most important is using OpenGL and linux distributions support
Not just Directx, OpenGL is just as powerful specially with the new Vulkan that is coming out. Using Directx12 is a horrible choice for anyone who is not funded by Microsoft. It limits the reach of the game. Specially for a game like this that relies so heavily in PC users you want to makesure that it can be played in the most popular platforms including old and new platforms. OpenGL is the best choice to be able to run the game in old computers as well as new computers without having to make multiple versions.
